On the second day we decided to explore Arashiyama in the north-west of Kyōto. This area offers extremely beautiful nature around the Katsura river. Especially during autumn because of Koyo.
Here we walked trough the mystical Arashiyama bamboo grove, then we took a train ride along the river up to Kameoka. From there we cruised back to Arashiyama per boat on the river before walking over the Togetsu-kyo bridge to view wild macaque monkeys on mount Arashiyama.
As we were still up to see more after that we headed to the famous Kinkaku-ji buddhist temple, which is covered in gold-leaf. And finally before dinner we visited a last historic buddhist temple called Ninna-ji.
